Elizabeth is a fully qualified and insured animal complementary practitioner. She has a full time animal clinic in Sussex, specialising in healing, diet and nutrition, behaviour and emotional problems and zoopharmacognosy. She also runs animal healing, natural horsemanship and animal aromatics workshops throughout the UK. Elizabeth regularly works with vets, doctors, zoos, animal rescue centres and charities. Elizabeth has been a professional healer of humans and animals for nine years, and is a member of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers, the Kinesiology Federation and The Ingraham Institute of Animal Aromatic Science & Research.

Course Philosophy and Vision:

The Healing Animals Organisation is a voice on behalf of the animal healers and animals supporting the needs of many who have suffered physical, emotional and psychological pain. The websitel lists and promotes all of the qualified animal healers from this course. The Healing Animals Organisation supports committed members who have trained in the diploma of animal healing with Elizabeth Whiter and help promote and recognise members. Vets, animal sanctuaries, rescue centres, animal charities and other professional animal care workers throughout the country can be sure they are working with a body of professional animal healers and have access to the register of qualified animal healers.

‘The diploma in animal healing will be the first of its kind. I feel very passionately there is a need for a body of professionally trained animal healers to help heal animals great and small. Successful candidates will be awarded the Dip in Animal Healing and be admitted to the Animal Healing register. Graduates will also have the benefit of having full insurance with the Healing Animals Organisation as animal healers.

Length of Course: 1 year part-time

The Animal Healing Course is studied for one year part-time. This will involve attendance of 17 days, 136 hours over the year. There are two regional centres to choose from: Sussex or Somerset for theory and practical sessions held onsite and visits to animal sanctuaries and rescue centres near by. Additional home study/diploma assessments, total time of course 300 hours.

Module One - 4 days 5th to 8th February 2009
Module Two - 4 days 23rd to 26th April 2009
Module Three - 4 days 2nd to 5th July 2009
Module Four - 4 days 15th to 18th October 2009

At module four there will be an interview with the panel on the final afternoon to ensure that the course objectives and the learning outcomes listed below are met and students must bring with them their completed logbook.

To be eligible to take the final assessment day students need to have completed the following:

Attendance of all four teaching modules
Twelve animal case studies
Six assignments on common animal conditions
Completed student log book
Attendance of local healing support groups set up to support students and practitioners.

DIPLOMA IN EQUINE HEALING WITH ELIZABETH WHITER

To be eligible to take the Equine healing course students must have completed Module 1 to 4 of the Diploma in Animal Healing and have some Equine experience. Students that have very little Equine experience will need to attend the two day basic horse care weekend course. (See below)

The Diploma in Equine Healing will include 4 days anatomy and physiology and common ailments and a further 4 days of practical Equine healing and theory held in Sussex, plus an opportunity to perfect Equine healing skills at a top riding establishment and a competition yard and stud. Home study case histories and assignments total course time 180 hrs

Module 2 Equine Healing Testimonials

Wow! What an amazing 4 days! The final 4-day module of the Equine Healing diploma was absolutely inspiring. Elizabeth Whiter had put in so much of her own energy and thought into the course work, the meditations, and the practical work.

We were an elite group of 9 students, all graduates of Liz's Diploma in Animal Healing, and each of us having been healing now for several years. We began with a meditation, followed by working through a section of theory, having done in depth anatomy and physiology in the last module. Then after lunch we worked with Liz's 3 horses, topping up a little on basic handling, then doing some healing in groups of 3. Later in the afternoon we drove to Wivelsfield to do some healing on donkeys and ponies - sensibly starting small. Here we worked in pairs. However, an enormous focus of Liz's work with the Healing Animals Organisation has been and continues to be working in donkey rescue centres - one in the Algarve and now one in the troubled Israel/ Palestine region. At last we can now buy logo'd shirts and sweatshirts for when we are working at rescue centres and demonstrations for the HAO.

I was amazed to find out some differences between horses and donkeys, from Maggie, who keeps her own and is extremely knowledgeable - donkeys need straw as well as hay as forage, and their skin is very sensitive, being desert-based animals, so they actually need more rugging up than horses.

On the second day we worked on some horses in an immaculately kept yard at a local school. There were 18 horses to work on, so we were privileged to be able to do healing on two horses each! This I found to be a particularly moving experience. I worked with Promise, a mare whom I have worked on twice before. It transpires that her back problem had been due to a hidden fractured vertebra (no history of trauma), and she was much happier than previously, having had 3 months of rest to allow it to heal, and now being brought gently back into work over the last 5 weeks. I could really feel the energy flowing well, Promise was much more responsive and accepting of the healing, and kept looking at me quizzically to let me know where to move to next. Fantastic! She will of course be one of my case histories - I need to do 6 case histories and 6 assignments for the Diploma.

On the third day we had a very profound connecting meditation from a particularly connected member of our group. Then we did some work on types of tack, tying horses up, and more theory. In the afternoon we went to a nearby DIY livery yard, where we each had a chance to work on one or two horses. Here we did some great work. The owners here were less knowledgeable about healing, although the lady who runs the yard does Reiki, so part of our role was showing them what healing does. I worked on a beautiful coloured stallion that had recently been rescued. It was fascinating working with the different energy, as I had not had much contact with stallions before. One of our number was working with an elderly mare that was to be put down after the weekend. She was ready to go and join her close companion who had passed on the year before; it was very moving to work with her.

Finally, yesterday, we worked at a competition livery yard, with much bigger, more powerful and highly strung horses. The lady who runs the yard had only taken it over 2 weeks before, but the yard was immaculate and the horses happy and well-kept. Many of these animals had less turn-out time, which was interesting; some of them thought as their boxes as their own safe-haven.

It was a privilege to work with so many wonderful animals, and I feel nothing can beat the level of practical experience and insight obtained with Liz's face to face courses. Dr Alison Grimston

What has module 2 done for me, wow, what can I say that does proper service to this?

In a lot of ways, the more we evolve along the spiritual path, the lonelier it seems to get - so in the first instance module 2 has given me that feeling of camaraderie again. This is no small thing - it is huge - I feel connected and 'in love' with all of those around me on the course in a very 'unconditional' sense - not an earthly sense I hasten to add!! Other than that, it has created an awakening of my latent sense of belonging in the world of horses - something I have never managed to experience to now but have always known - thank you for giving this the opportunity to be found and experienced. As with all previous courses this has been an intensive, totally absorbing 4 days. There can be no doubt as to the amount of time, thought and commitment Liz has put towards making this module as successful and rewarding for her students as with her previous endeavours.

We had all been informed prior to commencing this second module that there would be much to achieve in a very short space of time - how true! The care and attention to detail regarding not only the anatomical structures of the equine but also the tremendous variety of tack, horse related clothing and comfort related equine attire was mind blowing. The variety and choice in all areas of equine care has mushroomed from the limited choice I was once familiar with 30 odd years ago.

I felt that we had a wonderful balance of student skills amongst the group of attendees - both from the equine management and spiritually aware - everyone had so much to give and share.

I am sure that we all wish we could have more time to do the 'Practical Stuff' but appreciate there restrictions around this. Liz has offered the all important 'tasters' and support to encourage us to all strike out on our own, developing our healing gifts as individuals in our own right. Throughout this module there has been great emphasis on OUR safety and well being, which I feel is incredibly important. Too often we think we are protected and she has bought us to task, ensuring we are fully aware of both our Spiritual and Physical frailties. We are all so fortunate that Liz shares not only her experience and knowledge but also those opportunities to experiment and practice on her own clients and their human carers. The quality of this module has been extremely high. The written content is well researched and presented in a clear and informative format. It has been fantastic to work with Liz’s three horses, Wow, Betty and Dancer as they are wonderful confidence givers.
The practical element of the module has taken place at the most fantastic locations. We were privileged to visit a wonderful riding establishment called St Bedes. I was able to work with two beautiful horses utilising Liz’s wonderful teaching. This was the highlight of the module for me. We also worked at a lovely D. I. Thursday A.M - It was great to be back in the ‘wonder team’ feeling that rock solid bond that we share. Liz explained that this would be a busy few days, that we had a lot of practical and theory work to do – And Liz never lies!. The notes for this module like the last were extensive but, fully explained. We then had a practical demonstration, working with Liz’s horses and all had a chance to have a hands on go. In the afternoon we went to St Peters hospice and met Sarah’s donkeys. It was a great experience working in the field and then had the chance to have a group healing for Sarah.

Friday - Spent the morning at St Bede’s which is a marvellous riding establishment. Jenny made us very welcome. I don’t think I have ever been to such a calm and loving place (ok so all the kids were on holiday). The horses and ponies were without exception happy and relaxed and very pleased to accommodate us. I worked with two wonderful animals – Hector was a master teacher and I felt I learnt so much from him. Also we looked at tack and riding aids here and learnt about different types of saddle etc. Later back at Liz’s we discussed the mornings work, comparing our notes and experiences. Our last very enjoyable event of the day was pairing up and having individual healing. +++ Day!

Saturday - This mornings opening attunement was taken by Amanda and was truly amazing. Personally I found it a hugely moving experience and I am very grateful to Amanda, Liz and the group for this. I felt very strong and protected for the rest of the day – it feels like I have taken a very large step forward. In the afternoon we went to Plumpton stable and met Broney and had the opportunity to work with many different horses, ponies and their owners. It was a very different atmosphere at this place because of the extra dynamic of being a busy working yard; I found the contrast very exciting.

So here I am at 6pm, a little “cream crackered” but very happy and looking forward to tomorrow for more new experiences. P.S I like this course – a lot! Maggie Dip in Animal Healing

BASIC HORSE CARE WEEKEND WITH LOUISE BAILEY Bsc (Hons)

The basic horse care weekend has been designed for anyone who would like more experience with horses, and specifically for those students who wish to take the Diploma in equine healing with Elizabeth Whiter, yet have little experience with horses. This includes people who have never been around horses before, alongside more experienced people who would like to build on their current knowledge.

As horses can be large and unpredictable, we feel that it is of paramount importance to have basic knowledge of safe working practice around horses at the very least, before working with them.

The weekend will cover many aspects of safe horse handling and care; with a blend of practical and classroom tuition. Facilities are ideal for students, including: well-mannered horses of different sizes and ages, an enclosed ménage (sand school) for safe handling and riding practise and a barn-style classroom.

Topics will include:

Evolution of the horse – the flight animal
Horse behaviour and natural communication
Safe handling of horses in the stable and at grass
Basic anatomy and physiology
Daily horse care & stable management
Basic nutrition
Common ailments and problems of the horse.
Practical lameness assessment

The course content was perfect for the novice and the way it was presented was logical. Louise's obvious enthusiasm for the subject was infectious and her knowledge astounding! The horses were also good to work on as they were well behaved and patient with us but not 'perfect' in the sense of making you believe horse care was always going to be easy! About Louise: Louise has been passionately involved with horses for twenty years; working on stud farms, at prominent competition centres and rehabilitation yards, and currently owns three young horses. Alongside a wealth of practical equestrian knowledge, Louise also obtained a First Class Honours degree in Equine Science at one of the leading equine establishments in the UK, Plumpton College, where she also achieved the ‘Top Student’ award.

Louise has since travelled to Australia to study natural horsemanship techniques, which are based on understanding equine behaviour and communicating with horses in their own language. She uses this style of communication alongside traditional horse husbandry methods, and understands the importance of remaining open to new methods and techniques. Louise is currently studying the Diploma in animal healing with Elizabeth Whiter and is using healing as part of her holistic approach.

Aside from teaching, Louise currently works in the equine industry - hands on with many varied horses – and is also involved in equine osteopathic support, horse and rider heart rate monitoring (fitness training) and the development of a ‘horse and rider centre’ for osteopathy, training and rehabilitation.
