Sound is an excellent tool for the diagnosis and treatment of imbalances in the body and is a natural therapy that has been practiced for thousands of years throughout many civilisations. Balance is achieved through the Principle of Sympathetic Resonance. The tones of Tibetan bowls, gongs or tingshas are offered to the body to align, balance and restore harmony. We all vibrate at many different frequencies, which can be linked to specific areas of the body. As we live our lives, external sound influences knock the natural tones of the body out of tune. By offering the appropriate vibration from a Tibetan bowl, gong or tingsha the body has the opportunity to re-tune itself in sympathy.
It is known that we can achieve harmony by resting and breathing properly, or by practising disciplines such as meditation or yoga. But it has largely been forgotten that we can also balance ourselves with sound vibration. As a technique it is particularly effective, and works at a cellular level which can be detected when you listen to your body. The effects can be experienced by an individual at a one-to-one level or as a meditation / sound bath in a group session – where the bigger space enables the individual to experience a greater range of the dynamic sounds of the bowls or gong. Andy has developed his skills in the area of Sound, specifically with Tibetan and Himalayan bowls at the British Academy of Sound Therapy. His desire to source the best instruments has led to a collection of over forty bowls, not to mention gongs, bells, chimes, rattles and drums. He facilitates sound workshops throughout the UK.
